UK companies urged to prepare for surge in holiday bookings

Companies across the UK are being urged to review their internal holiday booking systems as they’re very likely to be overwhelmed following the lifting of the lockdown restrictions, a recent news report has been able to suggest.

Following the Government’s announcement on the 22 of February of how they will ease lockdown restrictions in England, holiday companies have reported a large rise in bookings. TUI said bookings for foreign trips jumped 500% overnight, and the owner of UK-based holiday firms Hoseasons and Cottages.com said it sold a record 10,000 breaks.

As such, it’s very likely that, over the next few months, employers can expect to be inundated with annual leave requests, which means that it is more important than ever to have robust systems in place to manage these requests and prevent HR getting overloaded.

Deploying advanced absence management solutions built around solid and reliable absence management software can take the responsibility of managing leave away from HR as requests are sent direct to line managers, helping to reduce admin for HR. This software can also give companies access to data and reporting tools, so they can see in real-time who is off when, track trends such as someone taking a lot of sick leave and ensure no holiday clashes.
