Number of job vacancies goes up by 17.7% across the UK in May, research finds

The number of advertised vacancies has risen by 17.7% in May, suggesting that business confidence is strong across the nation, recent data from online jobs portal CV-Library has been able to reveal.

The data, which analysed the number of jobs in the UK’s key cities in May 2017, compared with April 2017, found that Brighton took the top spot in terms of advertised jobs growth (23.3%), followed by Nottingham (21.6%) and Sheffield (21.3%).

Average salaries across the UK rose by 4% month-on-month and 4.7% when compared with data from May 2016. Many key UK cities also experienced an increase in pay, with Brighton, Sheffield and Liverpool rising by 8.1%, 7.4% and 3.6% respectively.
