Automated fire roll-call

Some companies believe that because they have a small number of staff, an official fire roll call isn’t necessary. They can just look at their assembled staff and recognise missing people!

This may be the case for regular employees, but what about contract or service workers like cleaners or repair engineers? What about visitors? How do you know if someone is out of the building and just not at the meeting point yet, or whether they are still inside?

A rapid and reliable fire roll call is a vital part of any business’ health and safety protocols.

At Time and Attendance UK, we can use our years of experience in visitor management to help you to avoid overlooking people in an emergency situation.

When the fire alarm is set off, our fire roll call module will trigger the printing of an up-to-date report of everyone who is clocked into your building. You can then use this as a register at assembly points.

In order to ensure that contract workers and visitors are included in this register, we strongly recommend that you use a visitor monitoring system. The system we provide allows you to advance book visitor appointments and pre-book on site contractors.

The central system updates as soon as visitors arrive and are checked in, either by receptionists or by our Self Service Visitor Management App. This means that the visitors are now registered as on-site, and thus they will automatically be included in any fire roll call print-out.

As well as printing the list of employees, the system can also be configured to send the list as an email to designated people.

Upon integration with a good Access Control system, doors can be configured to open automatically on fire alarm activation and lock automatically once the fire alarm activation condition has ceased.

Our system monitors your fire alarm panels, and an activation will always trigger a report to be printed. Reports can be grouped by a cardholder’s default resident fire point, or by the fire point onto which they are currently booked. This is particularly useful for visitors, contractors and staff who travel or work remotely.

Thanks to the integration between the fire roll call and the Access Control system, you can enable individual tracking of employee movements between the fire zone and the fire assembly points. This avoids ambiguity about employee locations during an alarm situation, which could otherwise lead to panic and unnecessary action.

Our door controllers can operate up to two printers. If you are a large site with multiple door controllers, this would multiply accordingly. Printers are connected either via a direct Ethernet cable connection or by IP and can be limited to reporting upon specific zones or fire points.
